• The weekly Major Crimes report published by Philadelphia Police indicates that 27 people were shot in Philadelphia during the seven-day period ending Sunday night. The Shooting Victims data set also made available by Philadelphia Police reports 33 shooting victims during the same period. We have seen discrepancies and corrections before – though previously smaller. We will keep an eye on it. [Philadelphia Police via Google Drive/data.phila.gov]
• Police have reported 119 total homicides this year-to-date in Philadelphia as of late Monday night, running 28 percent ahead of last year’s pace. On the same date in 2013, 53 people had been killed. [PhillyPolice.com]
Brutal weekend
• The seven people wounded in a mass shooting Friday night made up only half of the Philadelphia gunshot victims recorded on that date. Ten more people were shot over remainder of the weekend.
