Are you interested in improving the practice of reporting on gun violence and prevention? Do you think it might even prevent shootings and save lives? Then, please join us on Slack!
We are very grateful to the network of community representatives, journalists, researchers and other collaborators who have supported our work in recent years and now we have opened our space on Slack as an avenue for daily discussions, to share opportunities, keep you updated on news from the Center and enhance our relationships. We hope this effort attracts new friends too.
Discuss
What are the best practices for reporting on gun violence and prevention? Who are the best sources? What does the research tell us? We will offer prompts to begin the discussion each day but we really want to hear what’s on your mind most of all.
What is Slack?
It’s a messaging platform that solves a lot of problems but also creates the opportunity to build a community. Here’s a 101 and additional tutorials but it might just be easier to jump in and try it out. A lot of us like the desktop and mobile apps (found in the usual app stores) but some people just log in at slack.com.
Code of Conduct
We expect all members to be kind, welcoming and respectful, and to contribute to discussions. We ask that you limit posts in the #general channel to topics related to gun violence, prevention, community, research and journalism.
For now, we are adopting the Slack Developer Community Code of Conduct, except that violations should be reported instead via the Contact form found on our web site menus. Let us know if you think we need to refine the code specifically for this community.
Please complete the form below. Then, watch for an email invitation, log in and join the conversation in the #general channel. We will create more channels as needed.
Got more ideas? We’ll be listening when you get there.
