Giving thanks, 2024

We have much to be thankful for this year and many people to thank: our staff and consultants, community journalists and professional partners, funders and donors and all of the stakeholders who elevate our work and who make it all possible. And while reducing the number of people shot in Philadelphia to 1,093 during the past 365 days is hardly an occasion to celebrate, we also feel thankful to everyone working on gun violence prevention and for the sharp downward trend now heading into its third year.

This chart illustrating victims recorded during the 365 days prior to each date can be found on our Philadelphia Shooting Victims Dashboard. But we know that every data point represents a person and the impact on their families and communities. You can learn about many of those lost to gun violence and share the stories of others, thanks to our friends at the Philadelphia Obituary Project. More of our neighbors in the survivor community will be invited to join our next project early in the new year.
