John Paul Titlow is a journalist and content strategist with over 20 years of experience across newsrooms, magazines, brand creative studios and nonprofits. He joined the Philadelphia Center For Gun Violence Reporting as a digital content strategist in 2024 to support the organization’s online content strategy and publishing operations.
In addition to an extensive editorial background, John Paul brings to the center a wide-ranging expertise in digital publishing and operations that includes content marketing, website building and management, search engine optimization and social media storytelling.
As a journalist, John Paul has reported extensively on a range of topics, including technology, the music industry, mental health, criminal justice and various aspects of life and culture in the city of Philadelphia. His editorial work has appeared in national outlets like Fast Company, NPR, Thrillist, Atlas Obscura, Venture Beat and Vice, as well as local ones like Billy Penn, Philadelphia Weekly and PhillyVoice.
A proud graduate of Temple University’s journalism program, John Paul first cut his teeth in the media industry overseeing digital publishing for Philadelphia Weekly back when alternative newsweeklies were still hanging on for dear life amid the digital disruption of the late aughts. He has since served as a senior staff reporter at Fast Company, taught a digital design lab at Temple University and led editorial content initiatives for brands and nonprofits.
In addition to his work for PCGVR, John Paul is a freelance journalist, photographer and content consultant. He lives in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.
